BC Tech Co-op Grants Program

The BC Tech Co-op Grants Program is delivered through co-op departments at BC post-secondary institutions. It encourages student training and job readiness through work terms with small firms in tech or any companies hiring for tech roles.

The BCIC Innovator Skills Initiative is cultivating future technology leaders by bridging the innovation and entrepreneurial gap. It enables students to build desired skills for future career opportunities and inspires them to start their own companies.

AgriInnovation Program

The AgriInnovation Program provides funds to accelerate the commercialization and/or adoption of innovative products, technologies, processes, practices and services in Canadian agriculture, agri-food and the agri-based products sector.

The Angel Forum introduces emerging companies to private equity Angel Investors.

Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC)

BDC offers variety of tailored business loans that help entrepreneurs and small business owners grow their ventures.

Build in Canada Innovation Program

Build in Canada Innovation Program helps companies bridge the pre-commercialization gap by procuring and testing late stage innovative goods and services within the federal government before taking them to market.


CanExport will provide up to $50 million over five years in direct financial support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Canada seeking to develop new export opportunities, particularly in high-growth priority markets and sectors.

Canada Media Fund

The Canada Media Fund offers funding for companies in the television or digital media industries.

Canada Small Business Financing Program

The Government of Canada is making it easier for small businesses to receive loans by sharing the risk associated with such loans. You will need to present your business plan to the institution. Your plan will help determine whether you’ll be approved for a loan and how much will be lent. The maximum is $500,000.

Capital Investment Network

The Capital Investment Network improves access to investment opportunities, education and expertise.

Community Futures Loan Program

This is aimed at entrepreneurs located in rural areas. Local Community Futures volunteer boards of directors assess applications. The maximum is $150,000.

Ministry of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation Business Loan Program

The Ministry of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation Business Loan Program supports 150 Aboriginal small businesses throughout British Columbia each year to start, expand or make improvements to their businesses. The First Citizens Fund helps by paying back 40 percent of the principal in installments over the term of the loan. The maximum is $75,000.

Western Economic Diversification Canada

Western Economic Diversification Canada helps fill the gap between traditional bank lending and venture capital for small business. It works with not-for-profit organizations and business partners to provide loans to entrepreneurs in western Canada.

Western Innovation Initiative

Western Innovation Initiative offer repayable contributions to western Canadian businesses with less than 500 employees, to commercialize innovative technology-based products, processes or services.

Women’s Enterprise Initiative Loans Program

Women’s Enterprise Initiative Loans Program offers small business loans to women-owned businesses in BC to start, enhance or grow a BC business. The maximum is $150,000.

WorkBC: Canada-B.C. Job Grant

The Canada-B.C. Job Grant (CJG) is an employer-driven, cost-sharing program that helps employers invest in training for their current or future employees. The CJG assists eligible employers to offset the cost of training up to a maximum of $10,000 per participant per fiscal year, and up to a maximum of $15,000 per participant per fiscal year for the Unemployed Stream.
