Dean is responsible for diverse stakeholder relationships, new partnerships and business development throughout the provincial and national technology ecosystem in support of BCIC’s mission. In his previous role, Dean established and grew both the BC Acceleration Network and the BC Venture Acceleration Program to the largest of-its-kind acceleration program in Canada. Delivered through the BC Acceleration Network, the Venture Acceleration Program is an intense startup training and executive coaching program. Over 450 BC startup clients have participated in the program and they have collectively attracted in excess of $120 million in early stage funding since 2011.
Prior to BCIC, Dean spent 13 years in the private sector in Canada and the U.S. (Silicon Valley) in senior sales, business development, marketing, and product management roles always intensely focused on customer discovery and development in technology companies. His tech background is diverse and includes software, SaaS, cloud computing, telecommunications, internet, analytics, social media, big data, clean tech. Dean is a technology market validation training instructor in the BC Acceleration Network, a technology marketing instructor at BCIT, and has served as a mentor in the BCIC-New Ventures Competition. He earned an Executive MBA from the University of Ottawa in 1997, specializing in technology sales and marketing and widely consults with and advises technology companies.
