BCIC welcomes Bioenterprise BC to BC Acceleration Network

Honourable Amrik Virk, Minister of Technology, Innovation and Citizens' Services

The agriculture business accelerator Bioenterprise launched in BC on February 26, at an event hosted by BW GLOBAL in Abbotsford. Provincial and local government representatives, BCIC and leading BC agricultural organizations welcomed Bioenterprise, with more than 90 people in attendance.

Bioenterprise BC will join the BC Acceleration Network (BCAN). They will partner with agri-tech accelerator Sumas Regional Consortium for High Tech, to support high-potential agri-foods companies.

BCAN is made up of 14 tech accelerators across BC. They provide startups with resources to grow their companies. With Bioenterprise already established in Eastern Canada and a growing agricultural industry in BC, this is a natural Western progression.

“We are pleased to welcome Bioenterprise BC to the BC Acceleration Network. This new resource for BC agri-tech ventures will enhance our agriculture sector’s competitiveness and help create new jobs in British Columbia,” said Greg Caws, president and CEO of BCIC.

This initiative is made possible with the support of both federal and provincial funding. The Canada Accelerator and Incubator Program matched funding from BCIC.
